Tamilnadu : Sadhguru Isha Foundation Ashram: 150 police officers raided the Isha Foundation Ashram of spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev alias Sadhguru on Tuesday October 1 . This action has been taken in the context of the Madras High Court directing the police to provide information about all the criminal cases registered against spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation.
According to the report of Indian Express, on Tuesday October 1 , 150 policemen including 3 DSPs searched the ashram. The police checked the people living in the ashram and the rooms. In the case, Isha Foundation called it a routine investigation.
Actually, retired professor S Kamaraj of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University has filed a petition against the foundation. In this, he has alleged that his two daughters have been kept hostage in the foundation. They should be freed immediately. He alleged that Isha Foundation brainwashed his daughters, due to which they became sanyasis. His daughters are being given some food and medicine, due to which their power of thinking and understanding has ended. On Monday September 30 , the High Court said that the petitioner’s allegations should be investigated. It is very important to know the truth. A bench of Justice SM Subramaniam and Justice V Shivagnanam is hearing the case.
In fact, retired professor Dr. S Kamaraj had claimed that his two daughters Geeta Kamaraj (42) and Lata Kamaraj (39) were being held captive in the Coimbatore-based foundation. He alleged that the organization was brainwashing people, making them sadhus and limiting their contact with their families. S Kamaraj told in his petition in the High Court that his elder daughter Geeta is an M.Tech from a UK university. She got a job in the same university in 2004 at a salary of about ₹ 1 lakh. She started attending yoga classes at the Isha Foundation after her divorce in 2008. Soon Geeta’s younger sister Lata also started living with her in the Isha Foundation. Both the sisters changed their names and are now refusing to meet their parents. The parents claimed that ever since the daughters left them, their lives have become hell. Kamaraj had demanded to present his daughters in person in the court.
HC wants to know that Vasudev has got his daughter married, then why is he encouraging other’s daughters to live like a sanyasin? Justice Sivagnanam expressed surprise and said, ‘We want to know that the person who got his daughter married and established her well in life, why is he encouraging other’s daughters to shave their heads and live the life of a sanyasin.
However Girls deny compulsion or detention
Though both the women present in the court said they were staying there of their own free will and denied any compulsion or detention. Kamaraj’s daughters insisted that their stay at Isha was voluntary, Justices Subramanian and Sivagnanam were not fully convinced. Justice Sivagnanam remarked during the proceedings, “We want to know why a person who got his daughter married and established her well in life is encouraging the daughters of others to shave their heads and lead a life like a hermit. That is the suspicion.
