Special incentives to steel sector in Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy, special grants will also be given on green steel production: Chief Minister Sai

Raipur: The Chief Minister informed that in the Energy Summit held a few months ago, Chhattisgarh has received investment proposals worth about Rs 3.5 lakh crore, out of which investment proposals worth Rs 57 thousand crore are related to hydropower projects. Chhattisgarh is also progressing rapidly towards the production of solar energy through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.

The Chief Minister said that work is going on at a rapid pace on the construction of industrial corridors in the state, and new industrial parks are also being established. A provision of special grant has been made for the private sector to set up industrial parks. He invited the entrepreneurs present at the summit to invest in Chhattisgarh and set up units.

Take advantage of trained manpower and logistics policy

The Chief Minister said that Skill India centers have been started in all the development blocks of Bastar, so that there will be no shortage of trained manpower for the industries. He also informed that investors will also get the benefit of the new logistics policy. Under this policy, grants will also be provided for the establishment of dry ports, inland container depots etc. Chhattisgarh has immense possibilities in the field of logistics due to its location in Central India.



Chief Minister Sai said that Chhattisgarh is rich due to its abundant mineral resources. With proper exploitation of these, a huge expansion in industrial possibilities is possible here. This will create employment at the local level and will give impetus to the state’s economy. The Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to providing employment to maximum people in the manufacturing sector. The central government’s employment-related incentive scheme and the state government’s grant schemes for providing employment to local people will do meaningful work in this direction.

Manufacturing sector given prominence in ‘Anjor Vision’ document

The Chief Minister told the entrepreneurs present that the Anjor Vision Document has been prepared based on the concept of building a developed Chhattisgarh in accordance with the goal of Developed India @ 2047. In this document, the outline of development has been presented in a phased manner. He said that the maximum focus in this vision document is on the manufacturing sector, especially the core industries of Chhattisgarh – like steel and power – have been given top priority.

All preparations including infrastructure completed to achieve the target

The Chief Minister said that all necessary preparations including infrastructure have been completed to achieve this target. Railway infrastructure has been strengthened in the state. The construction of rail network and related infrastructure is in progress at a rapid pace, which will give a boost to the steel sector. He said that currently work is going on on various railway projects in Chhattisgarh at a cost of Rs 47 thousand crore. Now work will also start on the Raoghat to Jagdalpur railway line. A new railway line will be laid from Kirandul to Kothagudem in Telangana, in which 138 km will pass through Bastar. By creating a new rail network from Kharsia in Raigarh to Parmalkasa in Rajnandgaon, the process of supply of raw materials and transportation of finished goods to many major industrial centers will be made easier, which will reduce the cost of production drastically.

More than 350 reforms for ease of doing business

The Chief Minister said that the process of single window clearance system and ease of doing business has been implemented in the new industrial policy. Also, more than 350 policy reforms have been made, which will directly benefit the investors in the steel sector. He also said that special grants will be given to industrial institutions adopting green energy. Mr. Sai expressed happiness over the use of advanced technologies like hydrogen for green steel production in the state.

The Chief Minister also informed about the plan to develop a large steel cluster as a state capital region by including cities like Raipur-Durg-Bhilai.

More than 250 industrial institutions participated in the summit

Representatives of more than 250 steel and power sector related industrial institutions from five states of eastern India – West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh – participated in this Green Steel and Mining Summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries. They discussed the possibilities of industries in Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also visited the industrial exhibition organized by CII.

CII Chhattisgarh Chairman Sanjay Jain, Co-Chairman Siddharth Agarwal, Vice Chairman Bajrang Goyal, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat and Secretary Industry Rajat Kumar were present in the summit.
