Supreme Court grants bail to former Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Bajali in PMLA case

New Delhi: Former Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji, accused of distributing jobs for money, got a big relief on Thursday September 26. The Supreme Court granted bail to Balaji. While granting bail to the former Tamil Nadu minister in the money laundering case related to the cash-for-job scam, the Supreme Court said, delay in the trial does not mean that the person cannot be granted bail.

The Supreme Court on Thursday September 26 heard the bail plea of former Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji in the money laundering case. A bench of Justices Abhay Oka, Ahsanuddin Amanullah and AG Masih pronounced the verdict on the former minister.

Former Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji was arrested by the ED on June 14 last year in the money laundering case. After the arrest, Balaji underwent bypass surgery in a private hospital. After this, he was taken into custody by the ED for questioning. After interrogation, he was sent to judicial custody.

After Balaji’s arrest, DMK had protested against it. The party had said that this action was taken out of a feeling of revenge. The former Tamil Nadu minister is accused of distributing jobs in exchange for money when he was the state’s Transport Minister from 2011 to 2016.

The ED arrested him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 in the cash for job case. However, Balaji had approached the Supreme Court for bail. Because, the Madras High Court refused to grant him bail.
