‘Counting is going on for one month in countries of the world’

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that questions were raised on us that how does the voting figure increase after 5 pm? How do crores of votes increase? It has to be kept in mind that the sector magistrate collects the voting data between 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Form 17-C is given at the time of voting. When the officer collects all the machines by 7:30 pm, then the final data of his polling station is known, whereas we are told to give the data at 6 o’clock. People forget that in the big countries of the world, counting of votes is going on for one month.

‘EVMs are sealed after putting new batteries’

He said that new batteries are put in EVMs before the elections. It is sealed on the same day. On the day of voting, the seal is broken in front of the polling agent. Mock poll is conducted. Polling agents keep a record of who came and who went. The number of votes cast for which is given to them. The entire process is repeated on the day of counting as well. It is matched with Form 17C. After that, any five VVPATs are also matched. Our process has been questioned many times.

Name cannot be removed without Form 7: Election Commission

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that Indian voters are very aware. Stories are still going on about the voter lists. There are about 70 seats. In which political parties and candidates are with us, whatever claims and objections come. They are shared with all the political parties. Name cannot be removed without Form 7.

EVM foolproof device for counting votes: Election Commission

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there is no evidence of unreliability or any flaw in EVM. There is no question of virus or bug coming in EVM. There is no question of illegal votes in EVM. No rigging is possible. The High Court and the Supreme Court are constantly saying this in different decisions, what else can be said? EVM is a foolproof device for counting votes. The allegations of tampering are baseless. We are speaking now because we do not speak at the time of elections.

The final voter list has been released

The concerned officials of the Election Commission resolved all the applications by 24 December. In this way, till the final voter list was released, 3,08,942 new names were added to the voter list. 1,41,613 names were removed. During this period, a total of 1,67,329 new voters were added.

Every application was checked

The Election Commission found that in a month from 16 December, 5.10 lakh new people applied to get their names added. This happened for the first time. This happened even though more than three lakh voters were added to the new list within the stipulated time because this was happening within 20 days, when the time for objections and scrutiny had already passed. This was a matter of immediate investigation. All Electoral Registration Officers – EROs were directed to investigate. Every application was scrutinized. The concerned officials have been asked to do 100 percent verification.
