Raj Kapoor’s 100th Birthday: Rishi Kapoor was afraid of Raj Kapoor drinking alcohol, this fear always haunted him-The other side of the story

Raj Kapoor’s 100th Birthday: Rishi Kapoor has made a revelation about Raj Kapoor in his book ‘Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored’, which surprised everyone. The actor recalled in his memoir that he was upset with Raj Kapoor’s late night visits and his addiction to drinking alcohol.

Raj Kapoor is a legend of Indian cinema, who was also popular abroad. He made an incomparable contribution to the world of cinema. His legacy was carried forward by his son Rishi Kapoor and now his son Ranbir Kapoor is taking it forward. Rishi Kapoor grew up under the shadow of his father Raj Kapoor. In childhood, Rishi’s mother Krishna used to take care of him, as his father was always at work. As he grew up, he also worked a lot in films with his father. However, their personal relationship was not always good.

Raj Kapoor used to come home drunk late at night
Rishi Kapoor shared some childhood memories in his book ‘Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored’, in which he discussed the time when Raj Kapoor used to enter his house late at night in a drunken state, due to which he used to get scared. Rishi told that his father “was never at home because he was always busy at work.” He recalled that he used to meet his father only late at night. He also described his father’s return as unpleasant and said that those memories kept bothering him for a long time. He wrote in his book, “There was a time when I was young, his coming back was not at all pleasant. Those midnight moments bothered me for a long time, although I constantly refused to share my feelings with anyone till now. My father used to come home not only very late, but also very drunk.

Rishi Kapoor used to hide in fear of Raj Kapoor

Rishi told in his book, “He used to scream and shout very loudly in unconsciousness” Rishi Kapoor would hide under the blanket as soon as he heard the sound of his father entering the house. He shared “The moment my father would come home staggering, I would hide under my quilt, trembling but alert, my eyes wide open, to hear what he was saying or doing? When I would hear his voice slowing down, he would walk towards his room, then I would calm down and breathe easily.”

Rishi Kapoor was afraid of Raj Kapoor for this thing

Rishi recalled that he used to be restless anticipating in what condition his father would return home? And he was also afraid that he might quarrel with his mother. He wrote, “Every day I used to wonder what mood or state he would come in at night, afraid of the idea that he would get drunk and quarrel with my mother. For a very long time I was scared of my father and I am sure this fear was born from those early drunken scenes. Although I was young then, I promised myself that when I grow up I will never drink alcohol and will not scare my children like this. A few years after this, Rishi Kapoor started working in films with his father. He first appeared in a supporting role in ‘Mera Naam Joker’. Later Raj launched Rishi in Bobby. They also worked together in ‘Prem Rog’.
