“11-member SIT has been formed, will complete investigation in 4 weeks”: Chhattisgarh CM on Journalist murder

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai strongly condemned the brutal murder of Bijapur journalist Mukesh Chandrakar and said that any person involved in this murder will be not be spared. In view of the seriousness of the matter, Chief Minister Sai has constituted an 11-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police IPS Mayank Gurjar. The forensic team is investigating the incident on the basis of scientific and technical evidence. So far three accused have been arrested and the illegal construction done by them has been demolished.

Chief Minister Sai said that instructions have been pass on to give the harshest punishment to the accused so that such incidents do not recur in future . Our government will take a tough stand against the criminals and ensure the safety of journalists. Chief Minister Sai said that maintaining law and order in the state is the top priority of the government. Describing journalism as the fourth pillar of democracy, Chief Minister Sai said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the freedom and safety of journalists.

Three accused arrested so far
Journalist Mukesh Chandrakar murder case Bastar Range IG P. Sundarraj said, a team formed to catch the suspect in the journalist Mukesh Chandrakar murder case was sent to Raipur on January 3. The suspect in the incident, Ritesh Chandrakar, was caught from Raipur airport. Other suspects in the incident, Mahendra Ramteke (supervisor) and Dinesh Chandrakar, were caught from Bijapur. Along with interrogation of the three accused, action is being taken to recover the weapon used in committing the heinous crime like murder .
