Bhandara- Maharashtra : An explosion occurred at an ordnance factory in Bhandara district of Maharashtra on Friday morning. Eight people died in the accident, while seven have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that according to preliminary information, many workers were trapped when the roof of a unit collapsed due to the explosion in the ordnance factory. He also expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in the explosion.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that a major explosion has taken place in the ordnance factory in Bhandara. According to preliminary information, 8 people have died and 7 people are injured in this incident. Gadkari paid tribute to those who lost their lives by observing a minute’s silence. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that he was very sad to know about the incident. Rescue teams are deployed at the spot. All efforts are being made to provide assistance to the affected people. The defense spokesperson said that rescue and medical teams have been deployed for the survivors at the spot.
Earlier, District Magistrate Sanjay Kolte said that the explosion took place in the premises of Ordnance at around 10.30 am. A police officer said that the explosion took place in the ‘LTP section’ of the factory located in Jawahar Nagar area. At the time of the explosion, 14-15 employees were working in the ‘LTP section’, out of which three were rescued and one died. Fire brigade and ambulance have been sent to the spot. The roof has collapsed, which is being removed with the help of JCB.

As soon as the news of the accident came, Fadnavis expressed grief. He said, ‘There are reports of 13 to 14 workers being trapped due to the roof collapse in the explosion at the ordnance factory in Bhandra district. According to the preliminary information received so far, unfortunately one worker has died. Many workers have been evacuated safely. The District Collector and Superintendent of Police are on the spot and every kind of help is being provided. SDRF and Nagpur Municipal Corporation teams have also been called for the rescue operation and they will reach soon. The district administration is involved in the rescue operation in coordination with the defense forces. Teams have also been kept ready for medical assistance. I pay my heartfelt tribute to the one person who lost his life in this incident.’

Congress surrounded Modi government
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole targeted the central government over the explosion. He said that this is the failure of the Modi government.
