Ranya Rao accused of smuggling gold from Dubai
This case has come into the limelight due to being related to the family of a senior Karnataka Police officer. However, DGP Ramachandra Rao has clarified that he has no connection with this case and he will support action as per the law. According to reports, Ranya Rao is accused of illegally bringing gold from Dubai to India. The matter is being investigated by the DRI and she will be presented in the court as part of further proceedings.
Let us tell you that Kannada and Tamil film actress Ranya Rao has been arrested in Bangalore for smuggling gold from Dubai. Ranya was caught late night at Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore with 14.8 kg of foreign gold worth Rs 12.56 crore.

The DRI found that she had traveled to Dubai four times in the last 15 days, due to which After this, the agency started monitoring her movements. Based on this intelligence, DRI officials reached the airport two hours before Ranya’s arrival on March 3. She came from Dubai by Emirates flight and was taken into custody at Bangalore airport around 7 pm on Monday.
Who is Ranya Rao?
The actress is the daughter of Director General of Police (Police Housing Corporation) Ramachandra Rao. Ranya, a native of Chikmagalur in Karnataka, studied engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore before joining the film industry. She has also worked with famous actor Sudeep in the film ‘Manikya’ (2014). In this film, she played the role of the actor’s girlfriend. After this, the actress made her debut in Tamil cinema with the 2016 film ‘Wagah’ opposite Vikram Prabhu. In the year 2017, the actress returned to Kannada cinema with ‘Patki’, playing the role of a journalist opposite actor Ganesh.
