CBI Raid Bhupesh Baghel: Political rhetoric has intensified over the raid on the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The matter echoed even in the Parliament House complex in Delhi. Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh and BJP MP Damodar Aggarwal have given their respective reactions on this issue. Congress has condemned the raids on the premises of Bhupesh Baghel and party MLA Devendra Yadav in Bhilai city, calling it politically motivated.

What did the MPs say in Delhi?

Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh defended Bhupesh Baghel, saying that the BJP is constantly trying to tarnish his image, but no one can harm his credibility among the public. He said, “I have said earlier that Bhupesh Baghel is a strong leader and voice. These investigations will further enhance his image. The BJP is trying to tarnish the opposition, but Baghel was and will remain spotless.” Singh also asked why nothing was found even after so many investigation

Referring to the protests happening across the country, he said that it is the constitutional right of the people. However, on the objectionable slogans, he said that the state governments should follow the law and order. On a question related to the Delhi judge, he refused to comment till the investigation is completed, but stressed the need for reforms in the judiciary, labor, administration and financial sectors.

On the other hand, BJP MP Damodar Agarwal said that the raid at Bhupesh Baghel’s place was within the ambit of the law. He said, “The law does not belong to BJP or Congress, it does its job. Action is taken only if any evidence is found. The opposition may be furious, but they should have faith in the law.” Referring to the Waqf Amendment Bill, Agarwal said that it is for the welfare of the Muslim community, especially poor and widowed women.
