‘Now it’s our turn’: Russian Foreign Minister said- Putin will visit India soon; this is the first time since the Ukraine war began

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday informed about President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India. He said that President Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India. Preparations are being made for his visit to India.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon visit India. He has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave information in this regard on Thursday March 27,2025 . He said that preparations are underway for Putin’s visit to India. However, the date of Putin’s visit was not disclosed. This will be the first time the Russian President will visit India since the Russia-Ukraine war began.

A conference titled ‘Russia and India Towards a New Bilateral Agenda’ was organised by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), which was addressed by Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov via video conferencing. During his video address, Lavrov said, “Arrangements are being made for Putin’s visit to India.”

State news agency TASS quoted Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov as saying, ‘President Vladimir Putin has accepted the invitation of the head of the Indian government. Preparations are being made for Putin’s visit to India.’ During this, Lavrov said that after Prime Minister Modi was re-elected last year, he made his first foreign visit to Russia. He said, ‘Now it’s our turn.’

Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi visited Russia in July 2024, which was his first visit in almost five years. Earlier, he visited the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok in 2019 to attend an economic conference. During his 2024 visit, PM Modi had invited Putin to visit India.
Russia developing privileged strategic partnership with India
On Monday March 24, 2025 Lavrov said that Russia is developing a ‘privileged strategic partnership’ with India. He told an event that Russia is expanding its ties with China, India, Iran, North Korea and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. He said, ‘There is an unprecedented level of mutual trust in our partnership and strategic cooperation with China. Our privileged strategic partnership with India is also developing.’
