Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in research ethics involves  defensive original work , like creative or innovative ideas while also recognising the ethical deliberation of research . IPRs encourage innovation by yielding creators exclusive rights to their creations, but ethical principles guide accountable research manner, including fair credit, avoiding plagiarism, and protecting data discretion. 

A seminar on the subject of Intellectual Property Rights and Research Ethics was organised by the Education Department of Pragati College Chaubey Colony Raipur on Saturday, April 12, 2025 .

The program got started with Principal Dr. Soumya Nayyar unfolding the meaning of Intellectual Property Rights in the context of ethics . Besides explaining its importance, she said that its very important to be ethical while doing your research .

The main lecturer was Dr. Riya Tiwari, Principal Gracious Mahavidyalaya Belbhatha, Abhanpur, who explained Intellectual Properties by comparing Physical Properties. She told about three cases with examples. Rameshwari v/s Oxford, Yahoo v/s Yahoo Cocola v/s Bisleri through which she told about Property rights. Apart from this, Kinds of Property, the difference between discovery and invention. Intellectual Property was started in Wipro 1967 in Switzerland and is celebrated on 20th April.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are the legal rights given to the creator for her/ his intellectual creations such as inventions, literary and artistic works and new inventions. These rights give her/ him the exclusive right to exploit and benefit from her/ his creations for a certain period of time. She explained in detail about the Major Types of IPR. One can make her/ his rights on logo, colour, sound etc ,.

Further, she also explained the definition of Trade Marks and Patent. To get a patent, that thing should be useful for the society and where it can be used. she told about the life cycle of the patent, about opening and closing the manufacturing. She told about filling the application form of the Government of India.

In this way, how can you save your intellectual ideas. She gave complete information about the process . After this, she explained the importance of research and by linking research with Satyam Shivam Sundaram, explained truth, policy and beauty which was told in the interest of the society and their utility. Dr. Tiwari discussed about the ethical basis of research methods. The policies of research were explained through several examples that how theses policies are useful in our own interests , she said that we espouse various kinds of mistakes in the field of research which is against the ethics of research policies. In the last episode, the problems of the students were resolved by Dr. Riya Tiwari .


On this occasion, the Principal of the college Dr. Soumya Nayyar, Administrator Ms. Jyoti Thakur and Head of the Education Department Dr. K. N. Gajpal and all the professors and students were present .

The program was conducted by Ms. Chinmayi Das, Assistant Professor and the vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Gujan Sharma, Assistant Professor.
