*Decision Taken by Relaxing Rules Under Special Initiative of Chief Minister Sai
Raipur: In line with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s vision to promote training and development for emerging cricket players in the state, a major step has been taken. In a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday July 30, 2025 at the Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat under the Chief Minister’s chairmanship, it was decided to allot 7.96 acres of land to the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association for setting up a cricket academy in Sector-3, Village Parsada, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
It is worth mentioning that under government expenditure rules, there is no provision for directly allocating land to non-profit organisations. However, in this special case, the state government relaxed the rules and took this decision to establish the academy in the interest of players.
The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association received full-time recognition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2016. The land has been identified by the Urban Development Authority.
Chhattisgarh holds immense potential in the field of cricket. Several players from the state have already showcased their talent at the national level. While Nawa Raipur already has the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, there was a growing need for an academy with international-level facilities and training. This decision will provide talented youth in the state with excellent opportunities to advance in cricket and will help the state gain national and international recognition. This initiative by the Chhattisgarh government will not only open new doors for young cricketers but will also help establish a strong identity for the state in the field of sports.
