Raipur: In the auspicious month of Sawan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹20,500 crore as the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi directly to the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the country via DBT from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

On this occasion, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined the nationwide event virtually from the auditorium of Horticulture and Forestry University in Raipur, interacting with the state’s farmers.
Addressing the massive gathering of farmers, Prime Minister Modi said that since the launch of PM Kisan in 2019, ₹3.75 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers’ accounts across the country. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to farmer prosperity and cited the PM-Kisan initiative as a shining example.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana aimed at boosting agriculture in backward districts, with an allocation of ₹24,000 crore. He highlighted substantial investment in irrigation schemes to ensure water access to farms and boost productivity. He further emphasised that schemes like PM Fasal Bima Yojana are effectively providing relief during natural calamities. Focusing on women’s economic empowerment, he shared that over 1.5 crore women have already become “Lakhpati Didis,” and the government is halfway to its goal of reaching 3 crore.
Extending greetings to the people of Chhattisgarh on the holy month of Shravan, CM Vishnu Deo Sai offered prayers to Lord Mahadev for the state’s continued prosperity. He informed that over 25 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh have received ₹553.34 crore under the 20th installment of the PM Kisan scheme.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, CM Sai said, “Providing financial support to our food providers is a true recognition of their hard work.”

He affirmed that his government is committed to farmer welfare in line with “Modi ki Guarantee”. Recalling fulfilled promises, he stated that Chhattisgarh farmers are being paid ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy, significantly boosting their income. Within just 10 days of forming the government, ₹3,716 crore worth of pending two-year bonuses were disbursed to farmers, reinforcing trust.
CM Sai also paid tribute to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for launching the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, which transformed farming into a profitable venture. “Earlier, farmers had to borrow at high interest rates, but today, they can avail zero-interest loans under KCC, making farming easier,” he added.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to expand irrigation, he stated that “Bastar is now free from the grip of Naxalism,” and the state government is working on transformative projects like the Bodhghat Project and linking Mahanadi and Indravati rivers to turn Bastar into an irrigated and prosperous region.
He informed that ₹10,000 financial assistance is being given to encourage cultivation of pulses and oilseeds, along with support for landless agricultural labourers.
CM Sai stressed the importance of allied agricultural activities like fisheries, dairy, and animal husbandry. The Dudharu Pashu Vitaran Yojana (Milch Animal Distribution Scheme) has been launched in six districts as a pilot project in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), aiming to increase milk production and ensure fair prices for farmers.
He said the state is also promoting nutri-cereals (millets) such as Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi, traditional crops that are being encouraged to help farmers earn better returns in the market.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu said that under PM Modi’s leadership, financial assistance is regularly transferred to farmers through this scheme. He praised the rapid construction of concrete roads in villages and access to interest-free short-term loans through KCC.

He emphasised that the Vishnu Deo Sai government envisions a future driven by “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan” and is integrating modern equipment and technologies into farming. He informed that under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, over 1 lakh farmers were directly engaged by scientists, officials, and field workers to educate them on advanced techniques and their benefits.

On this occasion, beneficiaries were handed over cheques for grants under various agricultural equipment and welfare schemes.
The program saw the presence of MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Guru Khushwant Saheb, and Indra Kumar Sahu, along with Raipur Division Commissioner Mahadev Kavre, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Seeds & Agriculture Development Corporation Ltd Ajay Agrawal, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture & Forestry University Dr. R.R. Saxena, and a large number of farmers.
