Donald Trump’s short-term love affair with Asim Munir BUT THE QUESTION ARISE THAT : Why Washington’s Pakistan crush always ends in a breakup

US President Donald Trump, who previously called Pakistan a liar, is now becoming increasingly enamored with it. On Thursday September 25, 2025 , he met with Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. Regarding this meeting, experts say he knows the art of luring Pakistan.

On Thursday September 25, 2025 , US President Donald Trump met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House. Before meeting Shahbaz and Munir in the Oval Office, Trump praised both of them and called Munir a “wonderful person.” This is Trump’s second meeting with the Pakistani Army Chief.

Previously, Trump met with Munir on June 18, 2025, and the two had lunch together. Trump’s U-turn on Pakistan has been widely discussed. Former Indian diplomat Ajay Bisaria, who served as ambassador to several countries, commented on the meeting that this is the same Trump who, during his first term, accused Pakistan of deceit and lies.

Ajay Bisaria, who served as India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Canada, Poland, and Lithuania, said that while Trump accused Pakistan of deceit and lies during his first term, he is now calling Asim Munir a wonderful person.

He said, “Asim Munir is back in the White House. In his first term, Trump said that we gave Pakistan $33 billion and Pakistan lied and betrayed us. But now the same Trump is calling Munir a wonderful person.”

Munir gave Trump a sweet tooth by nominating him for the Nobel Prize

The former High Commissioner says that the current Trump is completely different from the old Trump, the Trump of his first term, and that friendship with Pakistan is part of that change.

He says, “Pakistan’s foreign policy now revolves around staying relevant through the US, China, and Saudi Arabia. And now, like China and Saudi Arabia, it has succeeded in bringing the US into its fold. The US has even offered Pakistan a large investment package. Munir has even given Trump a sweet tooth by nominating him for the Nobel Prize.”

Ajay Bisaria says, however, that Pakistan’s ploy to simultaneously trap China and the US won’t work for long.

He says, “China is Pakistan’s primary godfather. It is now playing games with the US and Saudi Arabia, and this is nothing new. But the outcome will not be good. Pakistan will not be able to balance the interests of the US and China for long. During Operation Sindoor, we saw, and everyone understood, that China is Pakistan’s primary friend, not the US.”

“America and Pakistan are the originators of Islamic fundamentalism in the world.”

Speaking on the growing relationship between the US and Pakistan, Javed Ashraf, former Indian Ambassador to Monaco, France, said that what Shahbaz and Munir are doing now is not new; rather, Pakistan has been trapping the US for decades.

He says, “The collusion between Pakistan and the US is not new. Both countries are the originators of Islamic fundamentalism in the world. Just as Pakistan is trapping Trump now, it did the same with the Bush and Obama administrations. The US also wants to distance Pakistan from China.”
