Chhattisgarh Baans Tirtha (Bamboo Shrine) Concept Ceremony Concludes with Grandeur in Bemetara

Chief Minister Hoists Flag on India’s Tallest 140-Foot Bamboo Tower, Bemetara Becomes National Attraction

Raipur: A historic moment was witnessed on Froiday November 14, 2025 in village Kathia, Bemetara district, when, as part of the Chhattisgarh Bamboo Shrine Concept Conference program, India’s tallest, 140-foot-tall bamboo tower was dedicated.

The grand “Chhattisgarh Bamboo Shrine Concept Ceremony” was held. This event was a matter of pride not only for Bemetara but for the entire state of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, and Cabinet Minister Dayaldas Baghel were present on the occasion .

Unfurling the tricolor atop the 140-foot-tall bamboo tower, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that this structure is not just a bamboo structure, but a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s tradition, skill, innovation, and vast potential. He appealed for environmental protection and the promotion of bamboo-based agriculture by planting a bamboo sapling. The Chief Minister visited the bamboo product manufacturing units, factories, and processing centers established at the venue and interacted with villagers and artisans, gathering detailed information about their livelihoods.

The Chief Minister said that that Chhattisgarh is today creating new dimensions of development, innovation, and progress. By building the world’s tallest bamboo tower, the state has established its unique identity at the national level. He added that bamboo-based industries, rural economy, handicrafts, agro-industry, and modern construction technology are creating immense potential in all these sectors. The government is implementing large-scale employment generation schemes for farmers, artisans, and youth.

Addressing the farmers, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that in the face of changing climate and water scarcity, bamboo cultivation is emerging as a promising option for farmers. He explained that bamboo grows rapidly in low water, prevents soil erosion, and increases greenery. Its demand in the market is steadily increasing. He said that Bemetara district has been struggling with water scarcity in recent years. In this situation, farmers can double their income by adopting bamboo alongside traditional crops. Bamboo-based industries are paving the way for extensive employment opportunities for the youth.

Cabinet Minister Mr. Dayaldas Baghel said that bamboo cultivation and industry can prove beneficial to the rural economy. He added that water scarcity is a major challenge in Bemetara district, and adopting bamboo cultivation as an alternative to paddy would be beneficial for farmers. This crop not only conserves water but also generates large-scale local employment. He urged farmers to consider bamboo cultivation, which will increase their income.

Bemetara MLA Dipesh Sahu, Collector Ranbir Sharma, SSP Ramkrishna Sahu, Chairman of the Weavers Development Board Prahlad Rajak, District President Ajay Sahu, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Pasha Patel, former MLA Awadhesh Chandel, Rajendra Sharma, along with a large number of farmers, sarpanches, public representatives, and villagers were present at the event.
