3,266 quintals of illegal paddy worth over ₹1 crore seized in 30 cases in Raigarh

Strict 24×7 monitoring is being maintained at all interstate and internal checkpoints

Raipur: On the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, strict monitoring is being conducted in all districts located along interstate borders to prevent illegal paddy storage and transportation. Prompt and strict action is being taken against those found involved in this activity.

In this context, a total of 3,266 quintals of illegal paddy has been seized in 30 cases in Raigarh over the past 15 days, estimated to be worth over ₹1 crore at ₹3,100 per quintal.

Under the guidance of the Collector, strict 24×7 monitoring is being maintained at all interstate and internal checkpoints located along the district’s borders. Officers and employees have been assigned shift duties, while special monitoring teams are active at the subdivision level. Action is being taken against anyone involved in illegal paddy storage and transportation under the Mandi Act.

The Collector has appealed to citizens and farmers to immediately report any information regarding illegal paddy storage to the nearest police station, tehsil office, or checkpoint. Cooperating in the crackdown will strengthen the transparency of the procurement system.

Paddy procurement operations are proceeding smoothly through procurement centers

105 procurement centers have been established in the district to purchase paddy at the support price.

As per government instructions, all procurement centers have been provided with basic amenities as per the checklist. Of the 105 procurement centers, 15 have been designated as sensitive and 4 as highly sensitive.

To prevent the movement of illegal paddy, 24 checkpoints have been established, including Bhuiyapali, Belaria, Lara, Rengalpali, Ektal, Jamuna, Tolma, Hadipani, Lamdand, Hamirpur, Main Road Hati, Golabuda, Fatepur, Kesharchunwa, Tangarghat, Bijna, Barkachar, Urdana Barrier, Boirdadar Barrier, Palgada, Bhalunara, Bakaruma Barrier, Aidu Barrier, and Relo Barrier.

Four teams have been deployed in three shifts for 24-hour surveillance at these checkpoints.

Online token and micro ATM facility available through the Tuhar Token mobile app

To fully digitise the paddy procurement process and provide transparency to farmers, the “Tunhar Token” mobile app is being made available, and society operators are issuing tokens starting at 9:30 am.

Tokens will be valid for seven days, and Aadhaar-based OTP authentication has been made mandatory, so no token can be issued without the farmer’s consent. Service cooperative societies also offer micro-ATMs for cash transactions.

Through these facilities, farmers can withdraw up to ₹10,000 per day using their ATM cards.

District-Level Inquiry Committee Formed for Smooth and Transparent Paddy Procurement
In accordance with government policy, the Collector has formed a district-level inquiry committee to ensure smooth and transparent paddy procurement in the district.

The inquiry committee includes Additional Collector Apurv Priyesh Toppo, Joint Collector Rakesh Kumar Golchha, Food Officer Chittaranjan Singh, District Marketing Officer Janhavi Jilhare, Deputy Commissioner of Cooperation Vyas Narayan Sahu, District Manager of the Civil Supplies Corporation C.
