Raipur: The ambitious plan prepared by Indian Railways to double the operating capacity of trains in 48 major cities across the country over the next five years includes Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Welcoming this decision, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that it is a great gift for the millions of passengers in Chhattisgarh and will give a new dimension to the state’s connectivity, trade, industry, and tourism activities.

Chief Minister Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Railways is undergoing extensive modernisation. This plan, announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, will directly benefit an emerging state like Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Sai said that Raipur Junction is one of the major railway junctions in the country, and millions of passengers travel through it every day. Doubling the operating capacity will provide people with more trains, better frequency, and less congestion.

The Chief Minister said that this plan will prove extremely beneficial for Raipur as well as other industrial and commercial cities. The expansion of rail infrastructure will lead to a significant increase in investment, employment, and ease of logistics. This will give a new impetus to the state’s economy.

According to information released by the Ministry of Railways, to double the operating capacity by 2030, the plan includes the construction of additional platforms, pit lines, and stabling lines at existing terminals;

establishment of new terminals in urban areas and surrounding regions; increasing sectional capacity through signaling, yard modernization, and multi-tracking; and the development of mega coaching complexes and modern maintenance facilities.

Chief Minister Sai said that the development of these facilities in Raipur will provide relief to all sections of society, including ordinary passengers, students, patients, industrialists, and traders. The state government will coordinate with the Ministry of Railways and provide all possible support to implement this plan expeditiously. He expressed confidence that in the coming years, Chhattisgarh will be among the states with the best rail connectivity in the country, and this transformation will strengthen the resolve for a “Developed India @2047.”

It is worth mentioning that the expansion of railway facilities in Chhattisgarh is progressing rapidly at a cost of ₹41,000 crore, which includes the expansion of railway tracks, doubling of railway lines, and the construction of railway flyovers and bridges. The central government has allocated ₹6,925 crore in this year’s budget for the development of railway facilities in Chhattisgarh. This will help in the speedy completion of rail projects in the state.

With an investment of ₹41,000 crore for the upgradation and development of railways in Chhattisgarh, new rail lines, railway flyovers, and other infrastructure are being rapidly expanded. 100% electrification of the railway network in Chhattisgarh has been completed.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for strengthening Chhattisgarh’s rail connectivity. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chhattisgarh has received unprecedented railway projects. These projects will take the state’s development to new heights and provide better rail facilities to the people.

Due to the excellent coordination between the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the central government, a historic initiative for the expansion of the rail network is taking place in Chhattisgarh.

This will not only improve passenger facilities but also boost industrial, mineral, and economic development. The expansion of the railway network in Chhattisgarh will accelerate not only passenger transport but also the export of mineral resources and industrial products. This will promote trade and investment in the state.
