Ayodhya: In protest against the Shankaracharya’s remarks, GST Deputy Commissioner Prashant Kumar Singh in Ayodhya has resigned. He took this step in support of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He says that this decision was taken on the basis of self-respect. The resignation has sparked intense discussion in administrative and political circles.

A major administrative development has emerged from Ayodhya in protest against the remarks made by Shankaracharya against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Prashant Kumar Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of GST posted in the Ayodhya division of the State Tax Department, has resigned from his post. He has sent a two-page resignation letter to the Governor and stated that he took this decision in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In his resignation letter, Prashant Kumar Singh wrote that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the democratically elected head of the state, and his insult cannot be accepted under any circumstances. He also said that he stands with the state whose salt he eats and from where he receives his salary.

Two-page resignation, citing self-respect

In the resignation letter, the Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that he had been mentally distressed for the past three days due to the Shankaracharya’s remarks. It was due to this mental anguish that he took this drastic decision. He says that this decision was not taken under any pressure, but on the basis of self-respect and his own convictions.

It should be noted that Prashant Kumar Singh was posted in Ayodhya in 2023. He was working as the Divisional Deputy Commissioner, i.e., GST Deputy Commissioner, in the State Tax Department. He has also said that after his resignation is accepted, he will contribute to social work with his personal resources.

Open support for CM Yogi, calling him a democratic leader

Following this development, discussions have intensified in administrative and political circles across the state, including Ayodhya. It is worth noting that on Monday, Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri had resigned, after which he was suspended.
