- Chief Minister Attends Programme Organised on World Radio Day
Raipur: On the occasion of World Radio Day Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday February 13, 2026 attended a programme organised at a private hotel in the capital Raipur. On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched a pen drive containing a new sung version of national song Vande Mataram.
Extending heartfelt greetings on World Radio Day, Chief Minister Sai congratulated Akashvani Raipur and UNESCO for organising the special event. He said this year’s theme, “Radio and AI”, is extremely relevant and useful.
In this era of information revolution, the use of Artificial Intelligence is rapidly increasing across all sectors. In such a scenario, there is a need for serious deliberation on making radio more people-oriented through AI. He said timely and accurate information plays an important role in citizens’ development, and radio has historically played a highly effective role in this regard.
The Chief Minister said Akashvani is the most trusted news broadcaster in the country. Despite intense competition among private channels to deliver news quickly, Akashvani has maintained its tradition of reliable, balanced and public-interest-oriented information, CM Sai said .
He said that in Chhattisgarh, radio remains a powerful medium of information, education and healthy entertainment. Sharing his memories associated with radio, he said that when no other medium could reach remote villages, radio was the only link connecting people with the country and the world. Even today, Akashvani plays a special role for farmers and rural areas. He said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s choice of radio for the popular programme “Mann Ki Baat” reflects its wide reach and impact.
The Chief Minister informed that six Akashvani stations are operational in Chhattisgarh and the Vividh Bharati service is being broadcast from Raipur, Sai added.
He said “Radio and AI” can bring a new revolution in the field of communication. With the help of AI, content can be made more effective, accurate and faster. Emergency information, weather forecasts, agricultural advisories and health-related updates can be disseminated more quickly and precisely. He said Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards a digital future. The country’s first AI Data Centre Park is being established in Nava Raipur, which will create new opportunities in education, healthcare, agriculture and technological security. Innovation is being promoted through the new industrial policy, and digital technology is being used to deliver the benefits of schemes to the last person. He added that broadcasting in Chhattisgarhi, Gondi and Halbi through Akashvani has strengthened local connect and increased listener interest. the Chief Minister affirmed.
In conclusion, the Chief Minister said that the reliability of radio and the speed of AI together will further strengthen public service, and with everyone’s cooperation, the resolve of a developed Chhattisgarh for a developed India will certainly be realised, Sai noted ,
On the occasion, UNESCO Regional Advisor for Communication and Information Ms Hazzaz Ma’aly extended greetings on World Radio Day. She said radio has the widest reach globally and remains the most trusted medium. Even in difficult times, radio has upheld its credibility while delivering accurate information to the world.
She added that AI can further enhance radio’s effectiveness and concrete efforts should be made in this direction. She noted that Akashvani Raipur is providing services across the state, especially in tribal-dominated areas, in Chhattisgarhi and Hindi. She said UNESCO will continue to collaborate with Akashvani on innovation and technological initiatives to expand radio outreach.
Chhattisgarh Sahitya Academy Chairman Shashank Sharma, Akashvani Director General Rajeev Kumar Jain, Deputy Director General V. Rajeswar, public representatives and officials were present at the programme.
