Raipur: The landless agricultural laborers—the architects of Chhattisgarh’s rural economy—are now entering a new era of economic security. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the State Government’s ‘Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Laborer Welfare Scheme’ is not merely a financial assistance program; it is a monumental endeavor (Mahayagya) aimed at ensuring a life of dignity for the person standing at the very last rung of society.
Under this scheme, a sum of ₹10,000 per beneficiary will be directly transferred this year into the bank accounts of 495,965 landless beneficiaries. To facilitate this, the State Government has allocated a total provision of ₹495.965 crores.
This list of beneficiaries includes 22,028 Baiga and Gunia families, who serve as the custodians of the state’s rich cultural and traditional heritage. The State Government had provided record-breaking assistance through this scheme last year as well.
In the year 2025, a total sum of ₹562.112 crores was distributed among 562,112 beneficiaries, at a rate of ₹10,000 per individual. This consistent flow of statistics demonstrates the State Government’s unwavering commitment to the economic empowerment of landless families.
On March 25, 2026, as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai initiates the transfer of funds from the soil of Balodabazar, it will resonate as a powerful echo of ‘Justice and Good Governance’ across Chhattisgarh. The ‘Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Laborer Welfare Scheme’ has conclusively proven that when a government possesses sincere intent and a clear policy framework, the rays of development inevitably reach every single hut.
The most significant feature of this scheme is its inclusive nature. This year’s list of beneficiaries includes 22,028 Baiga and Gunia families. These are the people who have preserved our ancient medicinal traditions and cultural heritage. By integrating them into the mainstream, the government has conveyed the message that, in the spirit of ‘Antyodaya’ (upliftment of the last person), the individual standing at the very end of the line remains at the absolute top of the administration’s priorities.
The ‘Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Laborer Welfare Scheme’ serves as a boon for those rural families whose primary source of income is wage labor.
The government’s primary objective is to provide these families with a fixed annual financial assistance, enabling them to fulfill their basic needs—such as education, healthcare, and daily necessities—without incurring any debt.
The assistance amount, previously set at ₹7,000, has now been increased to ₹10,000 per annum, which is deposited directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
