Baghpat News: Farman, a resident of Palra village in Baghpat, married Monalisa. Subsequently, a dispute arose, and an investigation conducted by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes revealed that Monalisa was a minor. A case has been registered against Farman under serious sections of the law, including the POCSO Act.

An FIR has been registered under the POCSO Act at the Maheshwar Police Station in Madhya Pradesh against Farman, a resident of Palra village in Baghpat, who married Monalisa—the “viral girl” of the Mahakumbh. This action was taken after the investigation revealed that Monalisa is a minor. Following these developments, Farman’s family has stated that they will not pursue any legal defense in the matter. Farman’s father has stated that there has been no communication since the marriage took place.

Farman—the son of Jafer, a resident of Palda village—married Monalisa on March 11; he runs a studio in Mumbai. However, the subsequent investigation revealed that Monalisa is a minor. Consequently, an FIR was registered against Farman at the Maheshwar Police Station in Madhya Pradesh. His father stated that by marrying a girl from a different religion, he has tarnished the family’s honor. “We will not support him. Had he married a girl from our own community, the family would have stood by him under any circumstances.”

He stated that he has not had any contact with Farman for the past six months. Meanwhile, his cousin, Samad, mentioned that the family has no knowledge of what is currently transpiring with Farman. Furthermore, the family no longer wishes to know anything regarding him; nor will they stand by Farman in this matter.

Case Registered Against Farman Under the POCSO Act

An investigation conducted by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) revealed that, at the time of her marriage, Monalisa was merely 16 years and 2 months old. The inquiry, led by Commission Chairman Antar Singh Arya, involved a scrutiny of relevant documents and local records. Following the investigation, an FIR has been registered against the accused, Farman, at the Maheshwar Police Station in Madhya Pradesh under the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. As for Farman himself, he is approximately 25 years and 9 months old.

In view of the gravity of the matter, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has summoned the Directors General of Police (DGPs) of Kerala and Madhya Pradesh to Delhi to obtain detailed information regarding the entire case and to determine the course of future action. It is reported that several questions were raised concerning this marriage after it went viral on social media, prompting the Commission to take suo motu cognizance of the matter and initiate an investigation. The case has assumed even greater seriousness following the revelation of age-related records during the investigation. Currently, the police are investigating the entire matter, and further legal action is being pursued based on the available documents.

They Met in Mumbai and Got Married in Kerala
It is worth noting that Farman originally hails from the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.
