One Nation-One Student: Early implementation of APAAR ID scheme in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: In accordance with the concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every student of the country will be provided a unique ID to ensure their identity. For this, an initiative has been started to implement the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry ID (APAAR ID) scheme across the country. This scheme will be implemented in three phases. In the first phase, students studying from class 9th to 12th will be provided a unique ID.

In the second phase, unique IDs will be created for students from class 6th to 8th and in the next phase, unique IDs will be created for students from class 1st to 5th. The objective of this scheme is to track the overall development and educational progress of the students under the National Education Policy-2020 as well as to give concrete shape to the concept of One Nation One Student ORD. Instructions have been issued to all the District Collectors by the Ministry of School Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government regarding the implementation of APAAR ID Scheme.

APAAR ID will be linked to DigiLocker, which will make digital records of students’ educational progress, exam results, report cards and other achievements safe and easily available. This ID will be useful as a credit score for higher education and employment in future. The Ministry of Education, Government of India has instructed all schools to organize a parent-teacher meeting on October 3-4 , 2024 and take consent from the parents to create APAAR ID of the students.

On the basis of the consent letter, the headmaster or principal of the school will enter the information on the UDISE Plus portal and the ID will be automatically generated. For those students who do not have Aadhar cards, special camps will be organized and Aadhar registration will be done. The District Education Officer has been made the nodal officer of this process. Along with this, District Mission Coordinator and Assistant Nodal Officer will also be appointed, who will monitor the process at the development block, cluster and school level.
