Washington DC: US President Donald Trump once again criticised media coverage of the West Asia conflict, accusing major news outlets of bias against his administration and claiming they would portray even Iran’s surrender as a victory.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump lashed out at media organisations and Democrats over what he described as misleading narratives surrounding the conflict. Referring to Democrats as “Dumacrats,” Trump claimed that even if Iran formally surrendered, the media would still frame it as a US defeat.
“If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us… the Fake News Media will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over the United States,” Trump wrote.
He specifically targeted The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CNN, accusing them of spreading false narratives and attacking his administration unfairly.
Trump did not mention any specific report that prompted the remarks. However, he has repeatedly criticised media coverage of the Iran conflict in recent weeks.
Last month, Trump accused The New York Times of publishing “fake news” on Iran and demanded an apology for what he called misleading reporting. He also dismissed an editorial by The Wall Street Journal suggesting that his declaration of victory in the Iran conflict was premature.
Meanwhile, the US military on Sunday carried out what it described as “self-defence strikes” on Iranian missile launch sites and boats near the Strait of Hormuz despite an ongoing ceasefire. Iran condemned the strikes, saying they exposed Washington’s “dishonesty and unreliability” even as diplomatic efforts continued in West Asia.
