Raipur: The ‘Seva Setu’ initiative launched by the Bijapur district administration is transforming the delivery of public services in rural and remote areas of Chhattisgarh. By providing citizens with easy access to essential government services through digital service centres, the initiative is making governance more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
Residents can now obtain important government documents such as local residence, caste, income, birth, death, and marriage certificates without travelling long distances or making repeated visits to government offices.
The initiative has significantly reduced both the time and cost involved in accessing these services, while strengthening public confidence in the administration.
A Certificate Issued in Just One Day
Vandana Hemla, a resident of Tadkel village in Bhairamgarh block, recently applied for a local residence certificate at the Seva Setu Centre in Nelesnar. Her application was processed digitally and approved on the very same day. The certificate was handed over to her by Seva Setu Centre Manager, Mukesh Kumar Baghel.
The entire process was completed online in a transparent and time-bound manner, eliminating the need for multiple visits to government offices.
A Welcome Relief for Rural Citizens
Sharing her experience, Vandana Hemla said that obtaining government certificates had previously been a lengthy and expensive process, often requiring repeated trips to administrative offices. Thanks to the Seva Setu Centre, however, she was able to complete the application quickly and receive her certificate within a single day.
“The process was simple, convenient, and completely transparent. Receiving my certificate so quickly helped me complete my important work on time,” she said.
Digital Governance at the Village Doorstep
According to Vandana, the availability of government services near her village has brought great relief to local residents. Villagers no longer need to travel long distances or spend unnecessary time and money to obtain essential documents. The Seva Setu initiative has made public services more accessible and convenient, especially for people living in remote areas.
Strengthening Good Governance Through Technology
The Bijapur district administration has introduced Seva Setu centres to bridge the gap between government services and rural communities. By delivering essential services through a digital platform, the initiative promotes transparency, efficiency, and accountability while ensuring that the benefits of governance reach even the most remote citizens.
Today, Seva Setu centres provide a wide range of citizen services, including the issuance of local residence, caste, income, birth, death, and marriage certificates in a timely and transparent manner.
Expressing her appreciation, Vandana Hemla thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for supporting citizen-centric digital initiatives. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Bijapur district administration and the Seva Setu Centre staff for making government services easily accessible at the grassroots level.
The success of Seva Setu demonstrates how digital innovation can simplify governance, improve public service delivery, and make government services truly accessible to every citizen.
