Authority says show-cause notices issued after encroachment complaints; consensus-based solution to be pursued with villagers
Raipur: Amid reports circulating on social media and other platforms regarding alleged eviction drives in Tuta village under the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority (NRDA), the authority has issued a clarification stating that no displacement or eviction action has been proposed at present.
According to the NRDA, only show-cause notices have been issued to the concerned parties as part of the due legal process following complaints of encroachment received by the authority.
Officials said that the authority had been receiving repeated complaints regarding alleged encroachments in Tuta village. Acting on these complaints, a formal inspection was conducted, after which preliminary show-cause notices were served in accordance with established legal procedures.

The authority further informed that on July 2, 2026, representatives of the village and prominent community members met with the Chief Executive Officer of NRDA to discuss the matter. During the meeting, it was mutually agreed that a joint meeting involving all stakeholders would be convened in the village to build consensus before any further course of action is considered. Subsequent discussions with NRDA officials will focus on finding a solution that serves the larger public interest.
NRDA also pointed out that the Gram Panchayat has, on several occasions, submitted requests seeking the removal of encroachments from different locations within the village. The issuance of the preliminary notices is part of the same statutory process.
Reiterating its position, the authority stated that its objective is not to cause injustice to anyone, but to act strictly in accordance with the law while safeguarding public interest. It emphasised that any future decisions will be taken with due sensitivity, ensuring that development projects continue without compromising the legitimate interests of residents.
