Mass Plantation Drive on July 30 to Empower Women as Green Ambassadors Under CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s Leadership

In a major step towards strengthening environmental conservation through public participation, the Chhattisgarh Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is set to launch the state’s first-ever ‘Mahatari Vandan Tree Plantation Campaign’ on July 30, 2026. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the campaign aims to transform tree plantation into a mass movement by encouraging women to actively participate in creating a greener Chhattisgarh.

The initiative seeks to combine environmental responsibility with women’s empowerment by involving beneficiaries of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana along with citizens from all sections of society. The state government believes that empowering mothers and women to nurture saplings will strengthen both ecological awareness and community participation.

Balod Administration Begins Large-Scale Preparations

Following the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Balod district administration has already initiated extensive preparations for the campaign. District Collector Divya Umesh Mishra has directed all concerned departments—including Forest, Women and Child Development, Panchayat, and Rural Development—to work in close coordination for its successful implementation.

The administration aims to ensure the participation of nearly 2.45 lakh women beneficiaries of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, while also inviting other interested women and members of the public to join the drive.

Free Sapling Distribution Through Anganwadi Centres

To facilitate the campaign, Anganwadi centres across the district have begun distributing free saplings to beneficiaries and interested citizens. With the support of Gram Panchayats, Anganwadi workers are reaching households to ensure every participating woman receives a sapling before the plantation day.

Participants are encouraged to plant trees at their homes, Anganwadi centres, community spaces, or any suitable location on July 30.

Digital Certificates for Participants

Adding a digital dimension to the campaign, participants will be able to upload a selfie with their planted sapling through a designated online portal. Upon verification, they will receive a digital certificate acknowledging their contribution towards environmental conservation.

Towards a Greener Chhattisgarh

The Mahatari Vandan Tree Plantation Campaign reflects the Chhattisgarh Government’s broader commitment to promoting sustainable development through public participation. By connecting women, families, and local communities with environmental protection, the initiative aims to create a lasting culture of tree plantation and ecological responsibility across the state.
