Three Indians Lured by Cheap Tour Package, Kidnapped in Thailand

One of the victims’ relatives alerted the Thailand police, they launched an investigation. During the probe, police traced the phone numbers used by the gang and found that they had been registered in Dubai.

New Delhi: Three Indian nationals were allegedly kidnapped by a gang in Thailand after being lured with a cheap tour package. The gang reportedly demanded a huge ransom from their families in India.

According to reports, the three youths arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province, Bangkok, at around 5 a.m. on July 21 and took a taxi to Pattaya. They had opted for a seven-day Thailand tour package priced at Rs. 1.99 lakh.

After reaching Pattaya, an Indian man arrived on a motorcycle and took the three victims, one by one, to a house where a gang was allegedly waiting.

The victims claimed they were tied up and forced them to call their families in India and demand a huge ransom for their release. The victims further alleged that they were tortured for a week and were denied food and water.

One of the victims’ relatives alerted the Thailand police, they launched an investigation. During the probe, police traced the phone numbers used by the gang and found that they had been registered in Dubai. Further investigation led officers to a house on Myap Tato Road, where they conducted a raid.

According to the Bankok post, the five suspects were identified as Avtar Singh, 38, Jagjit Singh, 38, Rambalak Kumar, 24, Sukhbir Singh, 37, and Kulra Singh, 27.
