New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin on Monday August 16, 2026 announced his new national team, bringing several prominent and experienced leaders into key organisational positions as the party strengthens its structure for the political challenges ahead.
Among the most significant appointments, former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been named National General Secretary, marking her return to a major organisational responsibility. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and senior party strategist Ram Madhav have been appointed National Vice-Presidents.
Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and Odisha leader Baijayant Jay Panda are also among the National Vice-Presidents. The party has appointed 13 leaders to the vice-president posts, while eight leaders have been given responsibilities as National General Secretaries and 16 as National Secretaries.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed National Treasurer, while B.L. Santhosh continues as National General Secretary (Organisation), an important position in the BJP’s organisational structure.
Congratulating the newly appointed office-bearers, Nabin expressed confidence that the combination of organisational experience and fresh energy would give further momentum to the party under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance.
🔴 “I firmly believe that all members of the team, working with dedication, will further strengthen the organisation and take the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the mission of national service to new heights.” — Nitin Nabin
Experience and Representation Shape New Team
The composition indicates an attempt to combine organisational experience, political visibility and representation from different regions and social groups. Ten women and six leaders belonging to minority communities have found places in the new national team.
Smriti Irani’s appointment is particularly significant. A former Union minister who has previously held important responsibilities in the BJP organisation, her return as National General Secretary puts her back into the party’s central organisational structure.
Ram Madhav’s appointment as National Vice-President similarly marks his return to a prominent national organisational position. Known for his earlier work in the BJP’s organisation and political strategy, Madhav joins a vice-presidential team that includes senior leaders drawn from several states.
Vasundhara Raje Scindia’s appointment also ensures a major organisational role for one of the BJP’s most experienced leaders. A former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Union minister, Raje brings decades of electoral and administrative experience to Nabin’s team.
The inclusion of Tirath Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand and Baijayant Jay Panda from Odisha further widens the geographical spread of the national leadership.
The reshuffle comes as the BJP prepares its organisation for the next phase of political and electoral activity. The selection of seasoned leaders alongside other organisational faces suggests that the party is seeking continuity while simultaneously restructuring responsibilities under Nabin’s leadership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also welcomed the newly constituted team, describing it as bringing together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect.
For Nabin, the announcement represents an important organisational step since assuming the BJP’s national presidency. His choices will now be watched for how responsibilities are distributed among the office-bearers and how the new team is deployed in forthcoming electoral and organisational campaigns.
