Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday, September 24, 2026 said the real estate sector would have an important role in shaping Chhattisgarh’s development towards 2047, with the State focusing on modern cities, quality housing and stronger infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing economy and accelerating urbanisation.
Addressing CREDAI Chhattisgarh Statecon-2026, themed ‘Building Viksit Chhattisgarh’, at a private hotel in Nava Raipur, Sai said the government was working to create transparent systems, simplify procedures and provide an investment-friendly environment for the real estate sector. Contemporary reporting on the event also records the Chief Minister emphasising modern cities and robust infrastructure as foundations of a developed Chhattisgarh.
“Modern, well-equipped cities and quality, robust infrastructure are the foundation of a developed Chhattisgarh,” Sai said, calling upon real estate entrepreneurs to participate in the State’s development by creating quality residential and commercial projects suited to future needs.
State Capital Region to Drive Next Phase of Urban Growth
Sai said the proposed State Capital Region would give a new dimension to planned urban development by connecting Raipur with Durg-Bhilai and Rajnandgaon. Housing, industry, trade, transportation and services are expected to benefit from integrated development across the region.

The Chief Minister said urbanisation should be treated as an opportunity and accompanied by long-term planning for housing, transport, civic amenities and infrastructure.
Referring to the State’s long-term development roadmap, Sai said the government had prepared the ‘Chhattisgarh Anjor’ vision document in line with the goal of a developed India by 2047. He said Chhattisgarh has set an ambitious target of taking its economy to ₹75 lakh crore by then.
Sai highlighted the State’s natural resources, mineral wealth, power availability, improving connectivity and human resources as strengths that could support this expansion.
Housing at the Centre of Development
The Chief Minister described owning a home as an aspiration shared by families across society. He said the real estate sector had expanded rapidly in Chhattisgarh and would see further opportunities as investment, industrialisation and connectivity increase and new urban centres develop.
He also referred to the expansion of housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and housing initiatives for particularly vulnerable tribal families and surrendered Maoists.

The Chief Minister said the government was simultaneously working on governance reforms and digitisation. Chhattisgarh’s investment portal lists simplified approvals and reforms including online building-plan systems and fast-track residential building approvals in specified cases.
Sai said the State had undertaken more than 400 reforms to improve governance and Ease of Doing Business, with digitisation aimed at making procedures more transparent and reducing unnecessary visits to government offices.
The State’s investment portal currently highlights the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30, online approvals and incentives across multiple sectors as part of its investment strategy.
Bastar’s Changing Economy
Sai also spoke about changes underway in Bastar, saying improved security and development were opening opportunities in tourism, infrastructure and local enterprise.
He highlighted homestays and tourism as potential sources of local employment. The State’s investment framework includes tourism-related reforms, including simplified homestay registration and provisions permitting homestay units of up to nine rooms.
The Chief Minister said development must ultimately create opportunities for local communities and bring areas that remained deprived of basic infrastructure into the mainstream of economic activity.
Registration Reforms to Simplify Property Transactions
Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Choudhary said the government was focusing on governance and reforms to improve the environment for industry, business and real estate.
He said technology-based changes were being introduced in registration procedures, including digital delivery of documents and auto-mutation, while the government was also working to make processes more citizen-friendly.
Choudhary said the State Capital Region would become an important centre of Chhattisgarh’s future development, with planned urbanisation, improved connectivity and modern infrastructure creating new economic opportunities.
CREDAI national president Shekhar Patel, national president-elect G.Y. Reddy, CREDAI national member Anand Singhania, CREDAI Raipur president Pankaj Lahoti, Abhishek Bachhawat and Ashok Moondra were among the representatives from the real estate, architecture, engineering and business sectors present at the programme.
