Mineral Department intensifies checks in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi; six tractor vehicles intercepted in separate operations

Raipur: The Mineral Department has seized six tractor vehicles allegedly involved in the unauthorised transportation of sand and stone during inspections conducted at different locations in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district.
The enforcement action was carried out by the department’s flying squad as part of continuing checks against illegal extraction, transportation and storage of minerals. The inspections were undertaken on the directions of Collector Vijay Dayaram K.
According to information provided by the department, four tractors loaded with sand were intercepted in the Basti-Bagra area. The vehicles were seized and kept at Kodgar outpost for safe custody.

In a separate operation, officials seized one tractor carrying stone in the Sarbahara area, while another tractor allegedly transporting sand was intercepted in the Andi area. Both vehicles were subsequently kept at the Amarpur Police Lines.
Proceedings against the respective vehicle owners are being initiated under the applicable provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. The vehicles will be released in accordance with prescribed procedure after payment of the applicable penalty or compounding amount under the mineral head.
The district administration said enforcement against illegal mineral activities would continue.
Collector Vijay Dayaram K. has directed Mineral Department officials to conduct regular inspections and maintain surveillance across the district, with prompt action in cases involving unauthorised extraction, transportation or storage.
He has also instructed officials to treat complaints received through the CM Helpline seriously and ensure their proper investigation and time-bound disposal.
The action forms part of the State Government’s continuing drive under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai against illegal mineral activities across Chhattisgarh.
