Gariaband: A total fine of Rs 16 lakh has been imposed on the oil manufacturer and the nominee of the company after Neo Rice Bran edible oil was found substandard. A fine of Rs 8 lakh has been imposed on the manufacturing company PBS Oil Industries Private Limited Arjuni District Dhamtari and Rs 8 lakh on the company’s nominee Prabhas Agarwal. The district administration has appealed to the people that for complaints related to food quality in the district they can call the Food and Drug Administration’s mobile number 9340597097 or inform through Whatsapp.
Food Safety Officer Gariaband Tarun Birla said that in view of food safety, a sample of Neo Rice Brand Oil stored for sale at Shyam Kirana Stores of Gariaband was taken. The collected sample was sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for testing. After testing by the laboratory, the product was found to be substandard. In the case of the edible oil found to be substandard, the investigation was completed as per rules and the case was presented before the Additional Collector Court. Additional Collector and Judicial Officer Arvind Pandey, while hearing the cases in the Additional Collector Court, passed orders in the case. In which a total penalty of Rs 16 lakh has been imposed.
The nature and quality guarantee of Neo Rice Brand Oil was provided by the manufacturer to Shyam Kirana Stores in the form of a purchase bill. The condition in which this food was purchased. In the same condition, the sample was sold for testing. Therefore, Shyam Kirana Stores Gariaband has been acquitted in this case. The Food Safety Officer said that consumers have the right to get correct information about the quality, ingredients, name and address of the manufacturer, nutritional value, vegetarian, non-vegetarian etc. of any food being consumed.
Therefore, food business operators at all levels of manufacturing, transportation, distribution and sale should ensure that the label of the food being manufactured, transported, distributed or sold by them is in compliance with the Food Safety Standard Labeling and Display Regulations 2020.
