Raipur: A joint delegation of the Chhattisgarh Employees-Officers Federation and the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Officers Association met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday October 10 , 2025 to protest the incident of indecency, heckling, abuse, and vandalism against Additional Director of the Department Sanjeev Tiwari at the Chhattisgarh Samvad office in Nava Raipur.

Submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister, the delegation stated that this incident is not merely an attack on a government official, but a direct assault on the institutional dignity and discipline of governance and administration.

Federation convener Kamal Verma said it is extremely worrying that incidents of intimidation and blackmailing under the guise of journalism are increasing. He said that freedom of journalists is the soul of democracy, but creating an atmosphere of fear, confusion, and pressure in the name of journalism is not only an insult to true journalism but also a betrayal of both society and the government. He demanded that the Chief Minister enact a strong law to protect government servants in the state, so that officers and employees can carry out their work in the public interest without fear and that anti-social elements face severe punishment.

Kamal Verma also requested that security be further tightened in all government offices, especially Indravati Bhawan, and that necessary security checks be installed at all entrances. He urged concrete steps to ensure that all officers and employees, from the state level to the block level, can perform their official duties without fear.

Balmukund Tamboli, spokesperson of the Chhattisgarh Gazetted Officers Association and President of the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Officers Association, said that entering a government office and engaging in violent behavior, shoving, abusing, and threatening to kill people at their homes is unacceptable in any civilised society. Such incidents create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity throughout the department, affecting the morale of officers and employees and adversely impacting the efficiency of governance and administration.

He siad that the Public Relations Department is a bridge of trust between the government and the public. Public Relations Department officers play a leading role in disseminating government policies to the public and maintaining communication with the media. Attacking a Public Relations Officer performing government duties in his office under the guise of journalism and threatening to kill him at his home is not only against the basic spirit of democracy but also an affront to the dignity of governance.

The delegation informed the Chief Minister that action has been taken in various instances in the past against those involved in the indecent behavior, and penal charges have been filed. Such individuals, under the guise of journalism, are openly threatening officials, and strict action is necessary against them.

Chief Minister Sai assured the delegation that action will be taken. He assured the delegation that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances and that the State Government will not tolerate such incidents.

The delegation that met with the Chief Minister included Additional Director of the Public Relations Department, J.L. Dariyo, Umesh Mishra, Joint Director, Pawan Gupta, Deputy Director, Ghanshyam Kesharwani, and other officials.
