Hyderabad : Today, famous Hindi cinema and television actress Asha Sharma passed away at the age of 88. Asha Sharma played many memorable characters in her career and made a special place in the hearts of the audience.
She was last seen in the role of Shabri in Om Raut’s film ‘Adipurush’, which left a deep impact on the audience. She will always be remembered for her performance and acting nuances.
On Sunday August 15 , the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) confirmed the death of veteran actress Asha Sharma on its official Twitter (formerly Twitter) handle. Sharing the poster of the actress, the association wrote, ‘CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Asha Sharma’. However, no statement has come from the family yet.
If media reports are to be believed, family members are busy with the last rites of Asha Sharma. In a media report, actress Tina Ghai told, ‘Last year, since the release of her film Adipurush, she had fallen four times, which proved fatal. She was bedridden since last April. However, Asha ji wanted to work till her last breath.’
Tina further said, ‘She was on bed, but she would often ask me to get her a role in which she had to play a character lying on the bed. Despite being unwell, her passion and enthusiasm remained intact’.
Asha Sharma’s career
Talking about the career of Asha Sharma, born in October 1936, she got recognition from 1986’s ‘Nukkad’ and ‘Buniyaad’ (1987). Her name also came in the nomination of Favorite Elder Award category in Star Parivaar Award Show. Apart from this, Asha Sharma has been seen acting in serials like ‘Mahabharat’ (1997) and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ (2019). She also had short films like ‘Toffee’ (2017) and ‘The Last Jam Jar’ (2021) in her kitty. Asha Sharma has acted in about 40 films and TV series, including ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’ (2001), ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’ (2002), ‘Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai’ (2006) and ‘1920’ (2008).
