Two Bangladeshis were caught in Assam and sent back to their country: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that two Bangladeshi citizens who had entered India illegally were caught in Assam and then sent back to their country. Sarma said that both the Bangladeshis were caught from Badarpur railway station and sent back to Bangladesh on Friday night. He said in a post on the social media platform X, “Assam Police caught two Bangladeshi citizens at Badarpur railway station.


The two Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Masoom Khan, a resident of Modelganj police station area, and Sonia Akhtar, a resident of Dhaka. Sarma said that they had allegedly entered India via Madhopur (Bangladesh)-Agartala route and were headed to Bengaluru. The Assam  Chief Minister said, “With the help of Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Police successfully sent them across the border last night.” He had said on Saturday August 24  that in the last one month, more than 30 Bangladeshis trying to enter India without valid documents have been sent back to their country from Assam. Sarma claimed that these Bangladeshi nationals were trying to go to Bengaluru and other cities of South India in search of work in the textile industry.
