Chief Minister Participates in Historic Jagannath Rath Yatra, Announces Bridge Project and Highlights Welfare Initiatives
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the historic Jagannath Rath Yatra Mahotsav at Amalipadar in Gariaband district on Thursday, describing the centuries-old festival as a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage, communal harmony and spiritual traditions.
Offering prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, the Chief Minister prayed for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of the state. He said that Lord Jagannath’s teachings of inclusiveness and public welfare continue to inspire society.

Addressing a large gathering of devotees, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to development and inclusive governance, stating that every welfare scheme is designed to benefit the last person in society and bring meaningful improvements to citizens’ lives.
Power Bill Relief Extended Until September
Announcing relief for electricity consumers, the Chief Minister said that the Mukhyamantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana, which was scheduled to conclude in June, has now been extended until September. He urged eligible consumers to take advantage of the scheme, emphasizing the government’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on ordinary families.
Mahatari Vandan Yojana Empowering Women
Highlighting the success of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, Sai said the scheme has significantly enhanced the confidence and financial independence of women across the state. Monthly direct benefit transfers into beneficiaries’ bank accounts are enabling women to contribute more effectively to household finances and become economically self-reliant.
He described women’s empowerment as one of the strongest foundations for building a developed Chhattisgarh.
Government Focused on Prompt Grievance Redressal
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remains committed to resolving public grievances promptly. He informed the gathering that over 42,000 public complaints have already been successfully addressed through the government’s grievance redressal mechanism, reflecting its focus on responsive and transparent governance.
Bridge Announced Over Baltijor Nala
Responding to a long-pending public demand, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a bridge over the Baltijor Nala. The project is expected to ensure year-round safe transportation and improve access to education, healthcare and markets for residents of surrounding villages.
Campaign Against Naxalism Continues
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, who also attended the event, said the anti-Naxal campaign is making significant progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He expressed confidence that Chhattisgarh is steadily moving toward becoming a Naxal-free state through coordinated efforts of the government and security forces.
Warm Interaction with Schoolchildren
During the Rath Yatra, the Chief Minister briefly halted his convoy to interact with students of Saraswati Shishu Mandir. He spoke with them about their studies and future aspirations, encouraged them to pursue their goals, and happily posed for selfies, drawing appreciation from those present.
The historic Rath Yatra witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees, with devotional music, religious rituals and chants creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere throughout Amalipadar.
