Angry women blocked the road after the unveiling of the statue of Mahtari

Women said that they had got the statue constructed by collecting donations themselves, and were not even called when statue was unveiled .

Bilaspur: Women of Ganiyari village expressed their displeasure over the unveiling of the statue of Chhattisgarh Mahtari and blocked the road to register their protest. The women said that they themselves had collected funds and got the statue built, but in their absence the Sarpanch and MLA unveiled it. Expressing their protest, the women raised slogans against the Sarpanch and MLA and blocked the road. The police and administration reached the spot and explained the situation, after which the anger of the women subsided and the blockade ended. This incident makes it clear that the rural community wants respect for their participation and contribution and if they are ignored, they can also protest, the politicians will have to understand that people cannot be fooled.
