In a discussion with the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized the historical friendship between the people of India and Afghanistan. Both sides evaluated the humanitarian assistance program run by the Government of India. The Afghan minister also praised the Indian Government for this.
Dubai : Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is currently on a visit to Dubai. He met Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Dubai. This is India’s first high-level bilateral talks with the government of Afghanistan after the Taliban returned to power in August 2021. During this, the two sides discussed a range of issues from bilateral relations to regional development.
A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that during this time India’s security concerns in Afghanistan, the need to consider development projects between the two countries in the near future, help in the rehabilitation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan were discussed. But the two major issues that were discussed were the use of Iran’s Chabahar port and cricket between the two countries.

The ministry said in a statement that the Afghan government took note of the needs of India’s security concerns. India’s biggest concern has been that anti-India terrorist groups should not be allowed to flourish from Afghanistan’s soil. The Taliban stressed that Afghan soil will not be allowed to be used against India.

In fact, India has sent several shipments to the neighboring country, which include 50 thousand metric tonnes of wheat, 300 tonnes of medicine, 27 tonnes of earthquake relief aid, 40,000 liters of pesticides, 10 crore doses of polio. 15 lakh doses of Kovid vaccine, 11,000 units of kits for de-addiction program, 500 units of winter clothing and 1.2 tonnes of stationery kits.
This meeting has taken place at a time when India has condemned Pakistan’s air strike on Afghanistan, in which many people were killed. The Indian government had said that Pakistan has a habit of blaming its neighbors for its internal failures, this is its old habit.
