Ne Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has resigned. Arvind Kejriwal along with his ministers reached the office of Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Saxena and handed over his resignation to him. Delhi LG has accepted Kejriwal’s resignation. Along with this, Atishi has presented a proposal to form a new government. The Delhi government has called a 2-day assembly session on 26 and 27 September.

Kejriwal, who reached the headquarters of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, addressed the workers and announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. Kejriwal said on Sunday that after 2 days I will resign from the post of CM. I got justice from the court of law, now the court of the people will give me justice.

Became CM 3 times in a row
The tenure of the Kejriwal government in Delhi is going to end in February 2025. The Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Kejriwal has been in power in Delhi since 2013. Assembly elections were held in Delhi on 4 December 2013 for a total of 70 seats. The results came on 8 December 2013. In this, BJP emerged as the largest party with 32 seats. However, it did not get a majority. AAP got 28 seats and Congress got 8 seats. With the support of Congress, Arvind Kejriwal formed the government, becoming the Chief Minister.
However, 49 days later, the alliance of the two parties broke. Assembly elections were held again in Delhi on 7 February 2015. In this, AAP won 67 seats. BJP was reduced to just three seats. Five years later, in the assembly elections of February 8, 2020, AAP has won 62 seats out of a total of 70 seats. 8 seats went to BJP’s account.
Spent 156 days in jail in liquor policy case
On September 13, Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the case related to corruption in the liquor policy case. He was arrested by the CBI on June 26. Earlier, Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21. After 10 days of interrogation, he was sent to Tihar Jail on April 1. On May 10, he was released for 21 days to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. This release was received after staying in jail for 51 days. On June 2, Kejriwal surrendered in Tihar Jail. In this way he has spent 156 days in jail.
