Bastar Region to Witness All-Round Development: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Bastar region will witness all-round development. He said that Naxalism is on the verge of being eradicated in the state, and after that, rapid development will be visible in the Bastar region.

Chief Minister Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs. 284 crore at a program organised in Pakhanjur, Kanker district on Friday January 16, 2026 .

At the program held at Netaji Subhash Stadium, Chief Minister Sai also made several announcements for the development of the people of the Parlakot area, including the introduction of Bengali language education in primary schools of 135 villages of the Bengali community from the new academic session.

He announced the construction of a road from Sambalpur to Pakhanjur via Durgukondal, a Gaurav Path (honorary road) from Mandi Gate to Anjari Nala in Pakhanjur, a CC road from the fish market in Pakhanjur to Nar-Narayan Seva Ashram, construction of a boundary wall at the Government Girls’ School ground, commencement of fire brigade services in Pakhanjur, and the establishment of Dhanvantari Generic Medical Stores at the Civil Hospital in Pakhanjur.

Wishing the public on Makar Sankranti, the Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously moving towards development with the will to work with cleanliness and transparency in administrative functions.

CM Sai informed that the state government is working rapidly following the resolutions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a short period of two years, the state government has sanctioned 18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, as a result of which 8 lakh beneficiaries have already moved into their new homes.

Similarly, 70 lakh women are benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. In tribal-dominated areas, many important schemes such as Niyad Nellanaar, Dharti Aaba Abhiyan, and PM Janman are being implemented, which have accelerated development work.

The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has been restarted. Paddy is being procured from hardworking farmers at the rate of Rs. 3100 per quintal, up to 21 quintals per acre. The program was also addressed by Kanker MP Bhojraj Nag and Antagarh MLA Vikramdev Usendi.

Chief Minister Sai visited the Nar Narayan Seva Ashram, where he offered prayers and wished for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. He said that this ashram, established with the motto of “service to humanity is service to God,” is carrying out the virtuous work of promoting faith and tradition. He performed rituals and offered prayers at the portrait and statue of the ashram’s founder, Swami Satyanand Paramhans. Afterward, he paid homage to the revolutionary martyr Gaind Singh of the Parkot rebellion by offering flowers at his statue located on the main road in Pakhanjur.

On this occasion, MLA Asharam Netam, Chairperson of the State Handicrafts Board Shalini Rajput, District Panchayat President Kiran Nareti, former MP Mohan Mandavi, former MLA Manturam Pawar, along with other local public representatives and a large number of local residents were present.
