An encounter has taken place between Naxalites and security forces in Bijapur and Kanker districts of Chhattisgarh. 24 Naxalites were killed in different encounters. At the same time, one soldier has been martyred.
There was an encounter between the police and Naxalites in the Gangalur police station area of Bijapur district on Thursday morning. Bijapur police gave information that a jawan of Bijapur District Reserve Guard (DRG) has been martyred. 20 Naxalites have been killed in an encounter with Naxalites in Bijapur. On the other hand, there was an encounter between soldiers and Naxalites in Kanker, in which four Naxalites were killed. The bodies of all 24 Naxalites have been recovered. Weapons and ammunition have been recovered.
A joint team had gone out on an anti-Maoist operation under Gangalur police station area near the border of Bijapur and Dantewada. During the operation, firing started between Maoists and security forces from 7 am today.
20 Naxalites killed in encounter
Bodies of 20 Naxalites have been recovered from the encounter site along with a large amount of weapons and ammunition. On the other hand, a jawan of Bijapur DRG has been martyred in the encounter. Search operation is going on after the encounter.
According to information received from sources, Naxalites have clashed with a joint party of security forces in the forest of Todka Andri in Gangalur police station area, a forest area on the border of Bijapur and Dantewada. Naxalites are reported to have suffered heavy losses in this encounter.
The country will be Naxal-free before 31 March next year – Union Home Minister Amit Shah
The Union Home Minister said, today our soldiers have achieved another major success in the direction of ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’. 24 Naxalites were killed in two separate operations of our security forces in Bijapur and Kanker of Chhattisgarh.
The Modi government is moving ahead with a ruthless approach against Naxalites and is adopting a zero tolerance policy against those Naxalites who are not surrendering despite all the facilities from surrender to inclusion. The country is going to be Naxal-free before 31 March next year.
