Champions Trophy 2025: PCB is hell bent on calling Team India as PAK, gave this strange proposal to BCCI

Champions Trophy 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a special proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the Champions Trophy to be held in 2025. According to the report, the PCB has suggested that if Team India does not want to stay in Pakistan due to security reasons, then it can return to India after every match, and the Pakistani board will help them in this process.

A PCB official has confirmed the proposal. The offer has been made because there is a week’s gap between India’s last two matches, so that Team India can return to Chandigarh or New Delhi after each of their matches. A PCB source confirmed that the board has not given any suggestion in writing. But yes, it is true that these options have been discussed verbally among the officials, so that India can play its matches in Pakistan.

Pakistan gets hosting rights of Champions Trophy 2025

Actually, the hosting of this tournament has been handed over to Pakistan, and the PCB has submitted the draft of the tournament’s venue and schedule to the ICC. The tournament will be held in February-March 2025.

When are India’s matches?

According to the draft, India has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Group B has Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan. All India’s matches can be played in Lahore. According to the schedule, India’s matches are on 20 February (against Bangladesh), 23 February (against Pakistan) and 2 March (against New Zealand).

Doubt remains on India’s visit to Pakistan (Champions Trophy)

Doubt remains about India playing in Pakistan. If the Indian government does not want to send its team to Pakistan, then the ICC cannot put pressure on it. In such a situation, Team India can play its matches in this tournament under the hybrid model. Earlier, the Asia Cup was also organized on the hybrid model, in which India’s matches were played in Sri Lanka.

When did Pakistan last visit India?

Pakistan last visited India in 2012-13, where a bilateral series of 3 ODIs and 2 T20 matches was played. Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1, while the T20 series was tied 1-1.

India’s tour of Pakistan (2008)

India last toured Pakistan in 2008. In the three-Test series, the Indian team won 1-0, while two matches were drawn.

Tour banned after Mumbai terror attack (Champions Trophy)

Actually, after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then, both teams face each other only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013, India and Pakistan have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues.
