₹8.22 lakh crore investment proposals, new industrial units and emerging sectors underpin State’s push for jobs and self-reliant growth

Chhattisgarh is entering a new phase of industrial development in which the focus is moving beyond merely establishing factories to building an ecosystem driven by investment, employment, modern technology and balanced regional growth.

Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the State Government has sought to create a transparent, investor-friendly and employment-oriented environment. The Industrial Development Policy 2024–30 and a series of administrative reforms are intended to strengthen investor confidence while ensuring that industrial expansion translates into opportunities for local people.

Commerce and Industries Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan has emphasised accelerating projects on the ground and generating employment as the State works towards its long-term Vision 2047 goals.

₹8.22 lakh crore investment proposals

Over the past two-and-a-half years, Chhattisgarh has received investment proposals worth approximately ₹8.22 lakh crore across 264 industrial projects, with the potential to generate more than 1.72 lakh jobs.

Of these, 154 projects have reportedly reached stages including construction, land allotment or production, while several units have already commenced operations.

During the same period, 3,009 new industrial units have been established in the State, providing direct employment to 50,807 people. These figures indicate the Government’s effort to translate investment commitments into projects on the ground.

Textile manufacturing gathers momentum

A significant development came on June 25, 2026, when Industries Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan and Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Choudhary performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the first unit at the textile park.

Tamil Nadu-based Swift Textiles Private Limited is setting up a garment manufacturing facility with an investment of ₹235 crore. The unit is expected to provide employment to around 4,650 people, potentially giving Chhattisgarh a stronger presence in the textile and garment manufacturing sector.

The modern textile park being developed in Nava Raipur covers approximately 81 acres, with plots ranging from 2,758 square metres to 38,180 square metres. It is intended to accommodate textile, garment, apparel, technical textile and allied industries.

New policy opens doors to emerging sectors

The Industrial Development Policy 2024–30 offers incentives aimed at both traditional and emerging industries.

Manufacturing units can receive financial incentives of up to 100 per cent, while eligible service-sector enterprises can receive incentives of up to 150 per cent under applicable provisions. MSMEs and service industries have also been brought within a wider incentive framework.

Special packages have been designed for sectors including textiles, logistics, artificial intelligence and pharmaceuticals.

The State is simultaneously seeking investment in data centres, information technology, semiconductors, electrical and electronics manufacturing and other technology-intensive industries.

Among the major initiatives taking shape is an AI data centre SEZ in Nava Raipur, alongside proposed investments in the semiconductor sector.

Ease of doing business at the centre

The Sai Government has placed ease of doing business among its industrial priorities.

A new single-window system covering more than 150 services, an AI-based VANI system for investors, simplification of procedures and more than 500 administrative reforms are aimed at reducing procedural hurdles and making investment decisions easier.

Industrial expansion is also being taken beyond established centres. The State has developed 23 new industrial areas, while 26 new industrial works across 15 districts have been sanctioned.

Projects such as the Plastic Park at Sarora and textile, pharmaceutical and ready-made garment parks in Nava Raipur are expected to further diversify Chhattisgarh’s industrial base.

Employment remains the central objective

During a recent discussion on “Vision 2047: Prospects for Industrial Development”, Industries Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan made it clear that the Government’s priority was not merely attracting investment commitments but ensuring that projects were implemented quickly and created maximum employment opportunities for local youth.

The State is consequently working on areas including an export policy, start-up and innovation policy, skill development, internships and MSME strengthening.

Particular attention is also being given to industrial expansion in regions such as Bastar and Surguja, where greater investment could contribute to more geographically balanced economic development.

The broader objective is to encourage young people not only to seek employment but also to become entrepreneurs capable of generating jobs.

Building confidence in Chhattisgarh’s industrial ecosystem

The scale and diversity of recent investment proposals suggest growing interest in Chhattisgarh’s industrial ecosystem. Beyond textiles and garments, investment is being pursued in data centres, IT, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and electrical and electronics manufacturing.

For Chhattisgarh, however, the decisive measure of success will be how rapidly proposed investments are converted into operational projects and sustainable employment.

Vision 2047 therefore represents more than an investment target. It envisages an industrially diversified Chhattisgarh in which innovation, entrepreneurship, employment and inclusive regional development combine to build a more self-reliant and prosperous State.

With the Government seeking to strengthen infrastructure, simplify regulation and expand opportunities into new sectors and regions, Chhattisgarh is positioning itself for the next phase of industrial growth.
