Literacy week is being organised in the district from 1st to 8th September with the aim of spreading awareness about the Ullas literacy program and promoting education in all sections of the society. During this, various programs focused on education and literacy will be organised.
Raipur: Under the new education policy, the Ullas Navbharat Literacy Program is being run in the district under the able guidance of the Collector and Chairman, District Literacy Mission Authority. Under the scheme, a target has been set to make 35000 illiterates of the age group of 15 years and above literate this year through 3500 volunteer teachers. So far, 29154 illiterates and 2777 volunteer teachers have been identified in the district through survey. Volunteer teachers will also be trained by the District Literacy Mission Authority.

During Literacy Week, various programmes will be organized in district, block, urban areas and gram panchayats as well as in educational institutions of the district. Through this programme, focus will be on basic literacy, important life skills, vocational skills and continuing education. Under Literacy Week, songs, dances, painting, speeches, essay competitions, rallies etc. will be organized in educational institutions.
