Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has achieved excellent performance in implementing the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Last January 2025, Chhattisgarh ranked last in the country in implementing this scheme. However, following Chief Minister Sai’s continuous monitoring, Chhattisgarh has reached the top spot in the country in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the last nine months. Chhattisgarh was awarded the Best Performing State Award at the National Health Authority Conclave held in Bhopal.

This recognition is a testament to the state’s tireless efforts and exemplary performance in the health sector. The main reasons for the recognition are the successful conduct of a thorough field audit on all identified issues. The turnaround time in the Ayushman Yojana claim process was significantly reduced, resulting in prompt services for beneficiaries. Extensive sensitisation and awareness programs were conducted to sensitise all relevant stakeholders. Coordination was improved by establishing an effective communication mechanism with NHA-empanelled healthcare providers.

This effort by the Chhattisgarh government has proven to be a milestone in providing quality and accessible healthcare services to the state’s citizens. Chief Minister Sai congratulated all the officials and health workers of the Health Department for this achievement of Chhattisgarh.

It is worth mentioning that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a health insurance scheme of the Government of India, which provides cashless health insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh per year to economically weaker families. This scheme covers secondary and tertiary care in public and private hospitals and aims to reduce the burden of healthcare expenditure on families.
