Chief Minister Sai blessing newly married f differently abled young men and women-Photo – Arrangements
Raipur: The All India Handicapped Awareness Council organized a state-level mass marriage ceremony for differently abled young men and women at the Ashirvad Bhavan in Baron Bazar of the capital. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the program and blessed 31 newlywed couples and congratulated them on entering married life.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said on this occasion, “It is our great fortune that we are becoming a part of this sacred work. This is no less than a religious ritual.” Thanking the organising committee, he said that not only marriages, but facilities like treatment and operation differently abled persons are also being provided, which is a very commendable job .
The Chief Minister said that in earlier times it was not easy to get a daughter married. The entire year’s earnings were spent on the daughter’s marriage, but after the formation of the government in the state, the mass marriage scheme was started. Under this scheme, the marriage assistance amount was increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000, which has provided relief to economically weak families.
Assurance to restart free surgical camps
Chief Minister Sai also spoke about the closed free surgical camps and assured that serious attention will be given to what can be done in it as per the demand. He said that the government is working for the upliftment of every section and every possible help will be given for the welfare of the differently abled people.
Many dignitaries, social workers and officials of the Disabled Awareness Council were also present in this occasion .
