Raipur: The state government is working with commitment to identify and promote sports talent. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said that every player of Chhattisgarh will be provided opportunities, resources and platform as per her/ his hard work, dedication and ability. He congratulated and wished budding archer Navleen Kaur of Mahasamund district for making a place in archery in the upcoming National Games.

The Chief Minister said that players like Navleen are the foundation of Chhattisgarh’s future and the government will provide all possible assistance to improve them at every level of the game.

Navleen, who has been battling health challenges since birth, turned it into strength and chose sports as her life path, not a weakness. By winning the gold medal in the state level competition in February 2025, she proved that no obstacle is big in front of willpower and hard work.

Navleen Kaur, a resident of Bagbahara in Mahasamund district, is the daughter of Arvind and Ranjit Kaur Chhabra. She was born in the seventh month of pregnancy, which caused many health problems in the initial years. Neighbors, relatives and acquaintances always kept asking about her health, due to which she sometimes became sad. But Navleen accepted this curiosity as a challenge and molded herself in a new direction.

In the year 2018, Navleen started archery training at Bihajar Balashram, located about five kilometers from Bagbahara. She became the first female archer of Mahasamund district. During her schooling, she won medals in state level competitions twice and once secured fourth place in the national level school archery competition. In the year 2023, she represented Chhattisgarh in the FGFI National Archery Competition held in Gujarat and secured second place in the state level senior archery competition.

Navleen’s goal is to win medals by representing India at the international level. She told that in international competitions, compound bow is played, for which her family has given her a new modern compound bow. She has made a great start by securing first place in the compound round girls category in the City Open Archery Competition. Currently, Navleen is learning the tricks of archery from coach Evan Sahu and Sports Officer Manoj Dhrtlahare.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that in this era of popularity of cricket, if a player is working hard in a specific sport like archery and working towards bringing medals for the state and the country, then it is not only commendable but also inspiring.

Talents like Navleen give the message to the youth of Chhattisgarh that any goal can be achieved on the strength of commitment, practice and confidence.
