Chief Minister hails Chhattisgarh weightlifter’s achievement, says her success will inspire a new generation of athletes

Raipur : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday July 28, 2026 congratulated Commonwealth Games 2026 silver medallist Gyaneshwari Yadav through a video call, praising her remarkable achievement in bringing glory to both India and Chhattisgarh on the international stage.

Gyaneshwari Yadav, a resident of Rajnandgaon and an Assistant Sub-Inspector with the Chhattisgarh Police, won the silver medal in the Women’s 53 kg Weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

During the video interaction, the Chief Minister described the medal as the result of years of dedication, discipline and relentless hard work.

“You have made both Chhattisgarh and the nation proud. I am confident that you will continue to achieve greater success and bring more laurels to India in future international competitions,” Sai told the athlete.

Recalling his meeting with Gyaneshwari before her departure for the Games, the Chief Minister said it was a moment of immense satisfaction to speak with her again after her medal-winning performance.

He added that her determination and commitment have not only enhanced the prestige of Chhattisgarh but have also become a source of inspiration for young sportspersons, especially girls aspiring to excel in competitive sports.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment to sports development, Sai said the Chhattisgarh Government will continue to provide athletes with better training facilities, modern infrastructure and all necessary support to help them compete successfully at the global level.

Expressing her gratitude, Gyaneshwari Yadav thanked the Chief Minister for his encouragement and warm wishes. She said the support and blessings of the Chief Minister and the people of Chhattisgarh would motivate her to perform even better in future international events.

Serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Chhattisgarh Police, Gyaneshwari has earned recognition both as a dedicated police officer and an accomplished sportsperson. Her Commonwealth Games silver medal further strengthens Chhattisgarh’s growing reputation in international sports.
