Raipur: In a major recognition of sporting excellence, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday August 3, 2026 announced a ₹30 lakh cash incentive and out-of-turn promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for Commonwealth Games 2026 silver medallist Dnyaneshwari Yadav, praising her achievement as a proud moment for both the state and the nation.

The announcement was made after the Chief Minister welcomed and felicitated the Rajnandgaon-born weightlifter at the Chief Minister’s Residence in Raipur, where Dnyaneshwari was honoured for winning the silver medal in the women’s 53 kg weightlifting event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Calling her success a victory of determination, discipline and perseverance, Sai said the honour was not merely for an individual athlete but for the sporting spirit of Chhattisgarh.
“Dnyaneshwari has made every citizen of Chhattisgarh proud. Her success is a powerful example for our daughters and youth that dedication and hard work can overcome every challenge,” the Chief Minister said.

Recognising her international achievement, the Chief Minister announced a ₹30 lakh incentive along with out-of-turn promotion as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Historic Performance in Glasgow
Competing in her maiden Commonwealth Games, Dnyaneshwari secured the silver medal in the women’s 53 kg category after lifting a combined total of 199 kilograms, earning one of India’s most significant medals in weightlifting during the Games.

Monday’s felicitation at the Chief Minister’s Residence marked the formal celebration of her international success, attended by her family members, coaches and fellow athletes.

Reaffirming the State Government’s focus on sports development, Sai said Chhattisgarh is investing in modern sports infrastructure, advanced coaching, scientific training and better facilities for talented athletes.
He said the government’s objective is to ensure that promising sportspersons receive every opportunity required to compete successfully at national and international levels.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that more athletes from Chhattisgarh would represent India in future editions of the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and other international competitions.
“Our policy is to identify talent early, provide opportunities and honour excellence. That is the path towards making Chhattisgarh one of India’s leading sporting states,” he said.
