Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi had commented on the President’s address and called her a ‘Poor Lady’. Sonia had said that the President was very tired in the end. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attacked the opposition on this. He said that the Congress has insulted the President.
PM Modi said that the country has seen the royal family of the Congress again. Today President Draupadi Murmu addressed the Parliament. She has reached here from a poor family of Orissa. Her mother tongue is not Hindi, she was brought up in Oriya, she addressed the parliament in a wonderful manner today, but the royal family of Congress has started insulting her. A member of the royal family said that the President gave a boring speech. One member even went further than this. Commenting on the President’s address, she called her a poor lady. She called her poor, a thing and said that she is tired.
‘Congress insulted 10 crore tribal brothers and sisters’
PM Modi said that they (Congress) find it boring when a tribal daughter speaks. This is an insult to 10 crore tribal brothers and sisters of the country. This is an insult to every tribal brother and sister of the country. He said that Congress insults poor, Dalit tribal people at every step who move forward. They like abusing people, defaming India abroad and talking about urban Naxals.
Nadda also targeted Congress
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda has posted on social media platform X regarding Sonia Gandhi’s comment on the President. He said that Sonia Gandhi used the phrase ‘poor thing’ for President Draupadi Murmu in her statement, which I and every BJP worker strongly condemn. The BJP President said that the deliberate use of such words reflects the anti-poor, anti-tribal nature of the Congress. He also demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress to the President and the tribal community.
Sonia Gandhi surrounded by the ‘Poor Lady…’ statement on Draupadi Murmu, daughter Priyanka defended her, Rashtrapati Bhavan called it unfortunate
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi created a controversy on the first day of the budget session by saying that the President was very tired during her speech, while her son Rahul Gandhi called her speech boring. Rashtrapati Bhavan described her statement as unfortunate. At the same time, Congress MP Priyanka was seen defending her mother Sonia.
Rashtrapati Bhavan termed as unfortunate senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s jibe at President Draupadi Murmu’s ‘Poor Lady’ during her address on the first day of the Budget Session of Parliament. Mounting a sharp counter to the former Congress president’s statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday January 31, 2025 said that the Congress MP’s remarks were ‘Poor Taste’ and ‘Unfortunate’. In a statement, the President’s Press Secretary said that 66-year-old Draupadi Murmu did not look tired at any time during her one-hour address to start the Budget Session of Parliament.
The statement said that these statements are an insult to the dignity of the office of the President and are far from the truth. Rashtrapati Bhavan said, “The President was not tired at any time. In fact, she believes that speaking for marginalized communities, women and farmers, as she was doing during her address, can never be tiring. Leaders made a wrong assumption because they are probably not familiar with the idioms and discourse of Indian languages like Hindi.”
