A Call for Unity for the Effective Implementation of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’: Chief Minister Sai Writes to MPs, MLAs, and Women’s Organisations

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has written to all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Chhattisgarh, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and women’s organisations, urging them to play an active role in ensuring the effective and time-bound implementation of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ (Women’s Reservation Act).

Describing the proposed discussion on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament on April 16, 2026, as a significant and decisive moment in the country’s democratic history, he stated that this presents a historic opportunity to secure appropriate representation for women—referred to as ‘Matri Shakti’ (Mother Power)—within democratic institutions.

In his letter to the MPs, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted that the scheduled discussion on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament on April 16, 2026, marks a momentous occasion in the nation’s democratic journey.

He highlighted that the unanimous passage of this Act by Parliament in 2023 stands as a symbol of democratic unity and a collective commitment toward women’s empowerment. The Chief Minister urged the MPs to play a positive and active role in ensuring the effective implementation of this Act prior to the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, thereby ensuring that women receive their rightful entitlements without delay, CM Sai added .

In his letter addressed to all MLAs of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasised that the time has now come to ensure that women receive their due representation in decision-making processes. He stated that this campaign—focused on ‘Empowerment Led by Women’—is of paramount importance for the holistic development of the nation. The Chief Minister expressed his expectation that all MLAs would amplify Chhattisgarh’s voice in support of women’s reservation and contribute to fostering a positive environment by actively participating in the discussions surrounding this subject.

In his letter to women’s organisations, Chief Minister Sai lauded their sustained efforts and contributions, observing that their active role in the sphere of women’s empowerment has laid a strong foundation for positive social transformation.

He noted that the discussion scheduled to take place in Parliament on April 16 is not merely a legislative process, but a historic initiative aimed at fully empowering half of the country’s population with their rights. Furthermore, it presents an opportunity to make democracy more inclusive and responsive.

Chief Minister Sai remarked that it is a happy coincidence that this significant discussion is taking place at a time when the ‘Mahtari Gaurav Varsh’ (Year of Women’s Pride) is being celebrated in Chhattisgarh.

He stated that Chhattisgarh has always been at the forefront of women’s empowerment, and the remarkable participation of women in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly stands as a testament to this fact. The positive outcomes of initiatives such as providing 50 percent reservation for women in local bodies—along with schemes like the ‘Mahtari Vandan Yojana’ and ‘Rani Durgavati Yojana’—are clearly visible today, Chief Minister stated.

He called upon women’s organisations to raise their voices vocally from their respective platforms in support of this historic initiative on April 16, so as to foster a positive, nationwide atmosphere in favor of women’s reservation. The Chief Minister asserted that women’s organisations would not merely be witnesses to this transformation, but active partners in bringing it about, Sai remarked.

The Chief Minister appealed to all elected representatives and women’s organisations to unite on this historic occasion, create a positive environment in support of women’s reservation, and ensure their active participation in the parliamentary discussion, he emphasised

He expressed confidence that, through collective efforts, this initiative would not only prove successful but would also usher in a new era in the strengthening of the country’s democracy, CM Sai affirmed.
